Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School is an elementary, Pre-School through 8th grade parish school accredited by WASC/WCEA.
OLHR School opened on September 29, 1950, to serve the community of Roscoe, now called Sun Valley. Initially, students in 1st-4th grades met in the parish hall and in a nearby utility house. Within a year, the first school unit was launched and construction of a second six-room unit began. By 1956, the third unit was completed, officially accommodating Our Lady of the Holy Rosary as a double-grade school. A kindergarten was opened in 1981, and, in 2010, a Pre-School and TK program was added.
The school has deep roots in faith-based learning and leadership. From 1950 until 1971, OLHR was staffed by the Sisters of Charity of Providence. From 1971 to 1983, the school was directed by a lay principal. In 1983 and until 2022, the Sister Servants of the Blessed Sacrament were integrated for both faculty and administrative responsibilities of the school. A lay principal, Ms. Araceli Esparza, currently leads our school community.
